  2. aSepsis-3 positive episodes were defined as present if there was an increase in SOFA score by 2 compared to baseline, as well as evidence of infection. Infection in this study was defined as present if the patient was administered intravenous antibiotic therapy within 48 h from admission and during at least 4 days. Sepsis-2 positive episodes were defined as present if there were 2 or more SIRS criteria in combination with infection
